Townsville Landmarks Home Stretch

Finally, Townsville Landmarks V2 is on the home stretch.
After months of development, setbacks and many other things we’ve finally got the product to where we are happy with it.

Whilst we are not finished with the product, we are ready to organise the release for it.
I am not saying that the product isn’t finished, It’s just I’d like to add some more complex things like trains, boats etc.

These are in an area that I have not yet had the time to learn about and with the help of some other developers I have been able to learn a little about it but as for now, not enough for me to be happy about including it in one of our products it is much more than just a simple animation.

Once this product is released and we hear the feedback from the community we’ll do a V2.01 which will fix those issues that I swear some of you set out to find… Anyway, it’s good to see we have pro-active people in the community who help find the faults and allow us to fix them rather than just posting about it and never allowing us a chance to resolve them so everyone can have a better experience with our products.

Townsville V2 has basically been an entire overhaul of the V1 excluding small assets like boats and things that just really weren’t an issue but we really have gone through a lot of changes with this and hope that you enjoy it.

One of the areas we’ve paid attention to is around the casino, there has been a helipad out the front of it on the waterside for a long time but with the recent construction of the Ardo hotel there appear to have been two more added to the edge of the carpark area. These have been configured for you to start from in the simulator.

Some of you really like it when we replace the ground image in the sim with a more current and high-detail one, unfortunately in this development, we discovered an issue with no current fix or workaround.

This issue is that the photogrammetry in the area appears to take over the priority of the ground image ultimately covering it up, the only way around it was for us to disable photogrammetry within highlighted areas but then that leaves a heap of flat buildings and from our experience with causing this at YPAD we learnt that a lot of the community didn’t like when we did that. Below is an image of what it was doing at random when we tried to replace it.

Once we’re informed of a way to work with this we’ll look to add it to this product for sure.

Townsville V2 has been handed to our Beta team as of yesterday and whilst I hope that it comes back faultless, some of them are close customers and test it to break it. So they ultimately find the issues most of the time that some of you do, hopefully; they don’t find much or at least nothing that will stop the release of it.

This particular product has been a bit of a tough one for us to work with as it is one of the areas that were included with the Australia World Update so there are some lower quality assets that we’ve had to work in with our own due to the sim being rather picky on if it wants to listen to us excluding them or not.

Thank you all for being so patient with us and for your continued support,

Much Love from us here at Impulse!
Josh & Dan
